In white adipose tissue, hypomethylation contributes to increased Pparγ expression, causing lipid accumulation and adipocytogenesis (55, 66); whereas in brown adipose tissue, it decreases Pparγ expression, impairing its maturation, which leads to loss of ability to resist obesity and aggravates systemic IR (59). This evidence concerns the gene PPARG and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
