In the MWM test, SIRT3 overexpression improved diabetes-associated spatial learning deficits as evidenced by reduced latency in finding the submerged escape platform during the 5 consecutive days of training and spatial memory deficits as measured by more frequent crossings of the former platform location and increased time spent in the former platform quadrant (target quadrant) during the probe test on the 7th day (Fig. 2j–n). The gene discussed is SIRT3; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
