After adjustment for age, sex, race, marital status, annual family income, alcohol consumption, hypertension, smoking, chronic pulmonary disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, flossing, and arthritis, CRP correlated significantly with the development of periodontitis in the subgroups stratified by obesity, with an odds ratio (OR) of 1.2 (95% CI, 1.0 to 1.5). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
