A2AR deficiency dramatically increased the abundance of sterol regulatory element binding protein 1c (SREBP1c) in liver and SREBP1c transcriptional activity in mouse hepatocytes (35), suggesting that A2AR disruption stimulates SREBP1c expression and transcriptional activity and accounts for the increased inflammation and lipogenic events in NAFLD. Here, ADORA2A is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
