Our previous findings showed that astrocytes play a major role in HIV-1 Tat-mediated amyloidosis, & since amyloids can be released in extracellular vesicles, we sought to assess whether HIV-1 Tat stimulated astrocyte derived EVs (ADEVs) containing toxic amyloids could lead to neuronal injury invitro & synaptodegeneration & cognitive impairments when administered in the brains of naive mice. This evidence concerns the gene TAT and amyloidosis.
