Prenatal exposureto BPA has been directly associated with differences in children’sbrain microstructure.39 Neurotoxicity hasbeen shown through an increase in reactive nitrogen and oxygen speciesin human glutamatergic neurons52 and inrats2 which could be because of activationof proteins involved in the “cellular response to hydrogenperoxide” (FYN in blue square near middle of Figure 4b as well as ABL1, FOXO1, MDM2,NFE2L2, and RELA) and “regulation of nitric oxide biosyntheticprocess” (EGFR, ESR1, SMAD3, and others in Figure 4b). The gene discussed is SMAD3; the disease is neurotoxicity.
