FGF9 and pulmonary fibrosis: Most of these mRNAs increased with age, as seen for olfactomedin‐1 (OLFM1) mRNA, which encodes a protein with enhanced secretion in aged primary skin fibroblasts (Waldera Lupa et al., 2015), and fibroblast growth factor 9 (FGF9) mRNA, encoding a protein that inhibits myogenesis as well as myofibroblast differentiation in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (Huang et al., 2019; Joannes et al., 2016).
