Evidence is accumulating that false-positive results of Aspergillus IgG exist, because a positive Aspergillus antibody is not specific to CPA, and can represent several other Aspergillus-related disorders, including Aspergillus rhinosinusitis, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, Aspergillus bronchitis and subacute invasive aspergillosis. This evidence concerns the gene CPA1 and allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis.
