The preliminary survey using the 99 Lives Consortium dataset indicated that NPC1:c.3224G>A, NPC2:c.376G>A, and NPC2:c.364-4C>T were not present in the dataset, suggesting that the three variants may be rare in the domestic cat population and could be responsible for feline NPC. This evidence concerns the gene NPC1 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
