Additional information can be acquired with a simple urine stix to determine if relevant albuminuria or haemoglobinuria are present, potentially hinting at other intrarenal causes of AKI: albumin in the urine is suggestive for glomerular damage, while haemoglobinuria may also point to glomerulopathies or a postrenal cause. Here, ALB is linked to lipoprotein glomerulopathy.
