GOLGA6L4 and viral infectious disease: HLAs encode the cell surface proteins that are part of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) and are involved in immune response and suppression.62 Other genes, including USP17L26, USP17L27 and GAGE2A_2, are involved in cellular response to viral infection.63 Of note, two genes GOLGA6L4 and LOC102724117-2 have been reported to be associated with waist circumference.64 The accelerated pattern in CN1 allele indicates potential selection signals for the population carrying these alleles.
