The most comprehensive evaluation of the effects of Huaier on Th cell differentiation has been conducted in ovalbumin-induced asthma models, wherein HQH corrected the balances of both Th1/Th2 and Treg/Th17 cells, transcriptionally elevated the expression of Th1-driven transcription factor T-bet and Treg-driven factor Foxp3 while suppressed the Th2-driven Gata-3 and Th17-driven RORγt, functionally enhanced the levels of Th1 cytokine IFN-γ and Treg cytokine IL-10 while inhibited Th2 cytokines IL4, IL-5, IL-13 and Th17 cytokine IL-17 (49, 51, 80). This evidence concerns the gene IL13 and asthma.
