Among the 20 SNPs that predicted kidney damage in any of the cohorts (Supplementary Tables S13–S15), nine were in common with any UACR variable in any cohort, although four of them (COL4A3-rs55703767, rs1077216, rs159782 and AS3MT-rs3740393) displayed the opposite effect shown by UACR-derived variables (higher risk of kidney damage despite lower albuminuria levels or vice versa). This evidence concerns the gene COL4A3 and Nephropathy.
