The mRNA expression levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β (Figure 5B, IL1B-Actb delta Ct, −3.98 ± 0.39 in SCD vs. −11.19 ± 0.72 in control, p = 6.7 × 10−5) and IL-6 (Figure 5C, IL6-Actb delta Ct, −6.03 ± 0.79 in SCD vs. −11.10 ± 1.06 in control, p = 0.0084) were significantly higher in SCD mice compared to control mice. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and Schnyder corneal dystrophy.
