TIMP3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: To give weight to these results, TIMP3 expression levels were shown to be decreased in the liver of NASH patients compared to their levels in healthy controls [249], in agreement with decreased expression of TIMP3 in the liver of mice submitted to a choline-deficient L-amino acid defined (mouse model of NASH) or western diet, in which increased oxidative stress and induction of TACE activity and fibrosis factors were observed [249].
