GLUT1 was found to be overexpressed in various solid and hematological malignancies, such as diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, colorectal carcinomas, hepatocellular carcinomas, head and neck cancers, gastrointestinal stromal tumors, sarcomas, and pancreatic and lung cancers [17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24], and a study by Higashi et al. has shown a correlation between GLUT1 expression and FDG accumulation in human cancer cells [25]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC2A1 and sarcoma.
