ABCG2 and colonic neoplasm: To et al. [17] found ABCG2 mRNA variants that differ in the 3’UTR sequence, and the shorter forms of this sequence do not have a possible binding site for the corresponding microRNA, hsa-miR-519c, thus preventing mRNA degradation and/or repression on protein translation, resulting in transporter overexpression; this is observed in resistant S1MI80 colon cancer cells.
