This study is consistent with a recent meta-analysis showing elevated levels of inflammatory markers such as procalcitonin, C-reactive protein (CRP), and IL-6 in patients with COVID-19 [10], and other studies that describe changes in inflammatory markers such as IL-6, IL-1β, IL-10, TNF-a, GM-CSF, and IL-17 [11,12]. This evidence concerns the gene CSF2 and COVID-19.
