Although transcriptomic analysis did not indicate any developing pluripotency, based on the absence of mRNA for pro-tumorigenic genes such as NANOG and by RNA-seq analysis looking for pluripotency signatures, the only way to assess the full safety of these and other rejuvenative cocktails is to test their effects in multiple animal models, paying particular attention to signs of tissue dysplasia or cancer. The gene discussed is NANOG; the disease is cancer.
