DKC1 and cancer: DKC1 is overexpressed in various types of cancer [23, 32–41, 50] and functionally, present in several nuclear complexes to exert its biological activities: (1) the H/ACA small nucleolar RNA–ribonucleoprotein complex (H/ACAsnoRNP); (2) the H/ACA small Cajal body ribonucleoprotein complex (H/ACAscaRNP); and (3) the telomerase complex [20, 21].
