The differences observed in the frequency and type of SMARCA4 genetic alterations between oligodendroglioma and GBM are in line with evidence that suggests SMARCA4 mutation is associated with an increased risk of oligodendroglioma [32], compared to GBM where BRG1 is thought to play an oncogenic role and maintain stemness of GICs [59, 61]. This evidence concerns the gene SMARCA4 and glioblastoma.
