Loss of ATP13A2 (PARK9), a lysosomal type 5 P-type ATPase which is correlated with early-onset PD, was shown to lead to Zn2+ dyshomeostasis, impaired mitochondrial function and altered ROS metabolism [212], providing further evidence of the association between Zn2+ and oxidative stress in PD. The gene discussed is ATP13A2; the disease is Parkinson disease.
