In the subgroup of patients with high LA strain (n = 47), those with a MR-proANP > 116 pmol/L had a more than fivefold higher risk of AF recurrence as compared to those with MR-proANP below the median value of 116 pmol/L [HR = 5.38 (2.19–13.22), p < 0.001]. This evidence concerns the gene NPPA and atrial fibrillation.
