As the primary isoform of the butyrophilin 3A (BTN3A, CD277) family (Zocchi et al., 2017), BTN3A1 directly binds phosphor-antigens, activating the Vγ9Vδ2 T cells in the colorectal cancer microenvironment, generating an anti-tumor response of zoledronate (D'Addio et al., 2013).
