Multilineage dysplasia with several mutations has been shown to have a much better outcome in comparison with MDS and AML having certain specific mutations such as ASXL1 and BCOR. So, a case-by-case approach depending on the cytology and genetics of the particular patient, gathered by next-generation sequencing (NGS) or polymerase chain reaction (PCR), must be taken. The gene discussed is ASXL1; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
