Allopurinol-induced SJS/TEN is strongly associated with HLA-B* 58:01 in Han Chinese (15), Caucasian (16), and Japanese patients (17), although allopurinol tends to induce SJS/TEN with fewer and less severe ocular symptoms (18) than in cases with other culprit drugs. The gene discussed is HLA-B; the disease is Schwartz-Jampel syndrome.
