Therapeutic approaches that increase NAD+ levels in obesity and insulin resistance states, including dietary interventions, supplementation with NAD+ precursors, and CD38 inhibitors, have been shown to improve metabolic function in preclinical studies (de Castro et al., 2020; Escalante‐Covarrubias et al., 2023; Escande et al., 2013; Tarragó et al., 2018). Here, CD38 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
