Panax ginseng polysaccharides and their effective subfractions can improve DSS-induced colitis in mice by decreasing the expression of colitis-related proteins IL-1β, IL-2, IL-6 and IL-17, up-regulating the expression of tight junction-related proteins ZO-1 and Occludin, regulating the diversity and composition of gut microbiota, increasing the production of SCFAs and inhibiting the TLR4/MYD88/NF-κB signaling pathway (12). Here, TLR4 is linked to colitis.
