Using proteomics, it was shown that RuZ significantly decreased certain proteins involved in mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis (e.g., GAPDH, pyruvate kinase M2), producing a decrease in the levels of ATP and glucose, which decreased the efflux efficacy of ABCG2 and ABCB1 and decreased cancer cell viability, respectively. This evidence concerns the gene ABCB1 and cancer.
