An in vitro study by Ming Li et al. demonstrated that the natural compound xanthohumol decreased survivin phosphorylation at Thr34 through inhibition of Akt-Wee1-CDK1 signaling, which in turn facilitated E3 ligase survivin ubiquitination and degradation in squamous cell carcinoma cells [100]. This evidence concerns the gene CDK1 and squamous cell carcinoma.
