The loss of PI4KIIα was shown to be involved in tumor cell apoptosis by driving endosomal EGFR degradation [51] leading to impaired antiapoptotic Akt signaling [52], which makes PI4KIIα an interesting therapeutic target in EGFR-dependent tumors such as breast cancer [51], glioblastomas, and some subtypes of lung and colorectal cancers [53].
