Despite the similar number of total leukocytes recruited to the peritoneal cavity observed in the infected groups (Figure 5B), the treatment of mice with TAT-GILZ increased the number of monocytes/macrophages at 24 h post-infection (Figure 5C), with no effect on lymphocyte numbers (Figure 5D) when compared to TAT or vehicle-treated mice.
