This evidence strongly suggests the importance of the PI3K/AKT pathway for osteosarcoma formation, as evidenced by whole-genome sequencing analysis of OS cell lines that revealed significant upregulation of AKT expression, followed by significant inhibition of proliferation in all cell lines by the addition of the metamorphic AKT inhibitor MK-2206 (84). Here, PIK3CB is linked to osteosarcoma.
