Therefore, BoNT-A’s action at the neuromuscular junction results simultaneously in decreased muscle contraction and the increased cleavage of SNAP-25, which both reduce CGRP release, and together may explain the improved symptoms of pain and photophobia in our BoNT-A responders (Diel et al., 2019; Venkateswaran et al., 2020).
