Several studies have shown that DCM is partially associated with pyroptosis, the most classic being myocardial fibrosis mediated by caspase-1 activation in a high-glucose environment: the lncRNA Kcnq1ot1, a signalling lncRNA, is highly expressed in the left ventricular tissue of diabetic mice, and a recent study by Fan Yang et al. showed that knockdown of Kcnq1ot1 by small interfering RNA reduced the expression of caspase-1 (10). Here, CASP1 is linked to familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
