To address the role of STAT4 in neutrophil migration to sites of atherosclerosis, we analyzed several aspects of neutrophil migration both in vitro and in vivo. As CCR1 and CCR2 serve as key chemokine receptors for neutrophils and respecting chemokines are highly expressed within the aortic wall (28, 29), we analyzed expression of these markers on the surface of circulating neutrophils. The gene discussed is CCR1; the disease is atherosclerosis.
