By blocking the expression of NF-κβ and the phosphorylation of Iκβ in LPS-stimulated Raw264.7 cells, Angelica dahurica extracts can down-regulate the expression levels of IL-1β, IFN-γ, IL-6 and IL-8. The expression of COX-2 and iNOS was also reduced after treatment with Angelica dahurica extract. Furthermore, in-vivo studies showed that Angelica dahurica extracts significantly improved inflammation and epithelial hyperplasia in rat models of experimental periodontitis. Here, PTGS2 is linked to periodontitis.
