If classified as a carcinoma, a tumour can be further subtyped as squamous (p63, CK5/6), urothelial (Gata3, uroplakin), neuroendocrine (synaptophysin, chromogranin), solid organ (hepatocellular, HepPar-1, glypican 3; renal cell, RCC, Pax8, CD10; thyroid, TTF-1, thyroglobulin, Pax8), or adenocarcinoma. This evidence concerns the gene PAX8 and carcinoma.
