AFP and neoplasm: Based on histological subtype (seminoma vs. nonseminoma), primary tumor location (testis or mediastinal extragonadal), location of metastasis and serum tumor marker levels pre‐chemotherapy (alpha‐fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)), patients with metastatic germ cell tumors are grouped into the “good”, “intermediate” or “poor” prognosis group (Table 1).
