The translocation is associated with more disseminated disease in gastric MALT lymphoma and is found in a large percentage of patients whose lymphoma is unresponsive to antibiotic eradication of Helicobacter pylori. In addition to t(11;18)(q21;q21), nuclear expression of BCL10 or NF-kB appears to be highly associated with lymphoma cell survival independence of H. pylori-mediated stimulations. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is MALT lymphoma.
