It has been demonstrated that aerobic exercise leads to reduced circulating IL-6 and CRP, as shown in a study on 2 120 Finnish participants where the levels of the latter were positively associated with obesity indices and inversely related to physical activity.28 Finally, in a large intervention study CRP concentration diminished by 41% in subjects who performed physical activity compared to inactive ones. Here, CRP is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
