Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the basis of treatment for adults with a CD4+ count of fewer than 350 cells/μL or with a CD4+ count that has any of the following conditions: Concurrent hepatitis B or a sexual partner with this disease, HIV‐induced nephropathy, age > 50, active tuberculosis, a viral load greater than 100,000, or malignancy associated with HIV or malignancy requiring chemotherapy/radiotherapy.1, 2.
