It has been shown that amyloid beta (Aβ) peptides Aβ1–42 (Aß42) and Aβ1–40, phospho-tau (181P; P-tau), and total-tau (T-tau) in CSF correlate with amyloid status according to positron-emission tomography (PET) and predict future clinical progression of Alzheimer ́s disease [2, 3]. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is amyloidosis.
