Killing of (cancer) cells by targeting FSP1 usually requires co-treatment with other types of canonical ferroptosis inducers5,19, such as the system Xc− inhibitor erastin, the glutamate cysteine ligase (GCL) inhibitor l-buthionine sulfoximine (BSO), and the GPX4 inhibitors (1S,3R)-RSL3 (RSL3), ML210 and FIN56, as well as the iron oxidation compound FINO2 (refs. 1,5,20–22), but not with compounds inducing other forms of cell death (Extended Data Fig. 1c–e). Here, GPX4 is linked to cancer.
