Several studies have shown that stimulation of the Angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT2R), either indirectly via candesartan, an Angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker, or directly by Compound 21 (C21), provided acute and long-term neurovascular protection and improved sensorimotor and cognitive outcomes after stroke in young, aged, hypertensive, and diabetes models [14,17,19,21,22]. This evidence concerns the gene AGTR2 and Stroke.
