In the chronic phase of schistosomiasis, the collagen deposition in the liver granulomas of infected WT mice was compact and organised in well-delimited fibres around the eggs (Figure 5B), while in infected ST2−/− mice, the collagen was loosely and widely deposited around the parasite eggs with no well-defined fibre organisation (Figure 5C). This evidence concerns the gene IL1RL1 and schistosomiasis.
