CRP and generalized anxiety disorder: A comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis study showed a positive correlation between levels of proinflammatory cytokines and the diagnosis of a generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) [274]; in this study, the authors analyzed 14 of 1718 identified studies, where the diagnosis of GAD and the measurement of cytokines from blood samples were matched, finding that elevated serum levels of C reactive protein (CRP) correlated with GAD [274].
