While some studies did not identify significant differences in RNA markers between LCLs derived from patients with BD and HCs [44], a recent study including 37 euthymic patients with BD I and 20 HCs suggested a potential role for circadian genes, showing lower levels of aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator-like protein 1 (ARNTL) and higher levels of circadian-associated repressor of transcription (CIART) and basic helix–loop–helix family member E41 (BHLHE41) in patients with BD compared with HCs [45].
