Gonciarz et al. [90] evaluated the effects of 24 weeks of lifestyle intervention combined with 10 mg/day melatonin treatment (5 mg at 09:00 h and 5 mg at 21:00 h) on plasma liver enzyme levels of AST, ALT, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), concentrations of lipids (total cholesterol, triglycerides), glucose, and melatonin in 30 patients with NASH. This evidence concerns the gene GGTLC1 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
