The biosynthesis of fatty acids may also be influenced by miR-222 and miR-31-3p [36], which share the target ACOX1, a catalytic rate-limiting gene in the β-oxidation of fatty acids from triglycerides, in particular miR-31 during oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). This evidence concerns the gene ACOX1 and oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
